Padian sa MSU

In celebration of the CBAA foundation day, the Padian sa CBAA was officialy opened for the public and also signals the week-long celebration of the CBAA foundation day. A program was held at the Peace Plaza, where the Padian is located. Faculties and the Dean attended the program and the students were invited also. A ribbon cutting was also done to officialy open it.
Different Entrep. Marketing students had a chance to practice their inner talent in doing business. We were tasked to sell RTW items at the Padian. It was such a wonderful experience being there selling something. It lets you experience the real world business that happens in real life. The Padian itself has a very inviting and festive atmosphere. Its like a Barrio Fiesta happening right in the heart of the university. Each of the sections has a unique set of merchandise, for instance is the souvenir items, men apparels, women apparels and many others. I had a great time while staying inside our booth. We were assigned to sell men’s apparel. I’ve met a lot of people that came into our booth and with the right sales talk, I persuaded some of them to buy one of our items. I also had a chance to meet new friends especially our neighbouring booths who also sells a  unique set of merchandise. Rain or shine, we are ready to open our booths to accommodate our buyers. I think the most fun part is the assembling of our tent in the morning. It was a bonding moment for all of us. Some would carry the tent from the canteen to the peace plaza, others will assemble it and others will display our stocks. We had a different roles to perform. And every afternoon, it would always be a windy type of afternoon and some of my classmates brought their speakers and we would listen to music to entertain ourselves.

I had a lot of experience in the Padian which I can apply to myself in the near future. It was really fun selling to the other students. I am very glad that I had a chance to experience the padian sa CBAA.

Inspirational Success Stories

It doesn’t matter if you’ve failed numerous times because you only have to be right once”, a personal favourite quote of mine that I’ve read while reading a business magazine. I think we can all agree to it. That no matter how many times we’ve failed, if we hit that jackpot even just once, then our life would change.
I think that different success stories featured in our hand-outs are really motivating and inspiring. Reader could learn a thing or two from it. Millenials nowadays are fond of using social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Who would’ve thought that these social media sites could create a big company such as the transportation app UBER? Well, it is so overwhelming that it all started by just a single tweet of the UBER founder and now the company is worth billions of dollars.
The most inspiring part of the paper for me is the article about Elon Musk. After reading it, then I have come to realize some of the wrong deeds I have done in the past. His story is so relevant to my life right now. That many of the great entrepreneurs have had a moment atleast once in their life when they have lost everything. Many of us would think that it really is a bad thing when we lost all of our possessions in life. We would give up easily and do nothing about it.  The monks call it “moksha” which means liberation from illusion. Entrepreneurs sometimes experience bad things in their businesses, but it is perfectly normal. Life can be so boring without challenges in life. I love how nothingness is perceived as a good thing and not the opposite.
Sara Blakely story tells us that opportunities sometimes come the least we expect it. She just happened to cut the foot part of her panty hose and at that moment, she thought of a good opportunity. It was a surprise opportunity for her. With that occurrence in her life, she is now a self-made billionaire with her company “Spanx”. It made me realize that sometimes, success is found accidentally or that success is just around the corner and its our minds that are needed to find it. We must find and work for it.
The articles on the paper is surely informative as well as motivating. After reading all of it, I feel really motivated and felt that I wanted to do more with my life. I just imagined myself as a self-made billionaire and has done something beneficial into this world.
I hope that sometime in the future, I would be sitting on a comfortable leather chair inside an office of mine inside the building of my own company and I would be reading this blog entry of mine and I would remember the time that I wrote it inside my room in MSU-Marawi.

MY MSU LIFE

I can really say that college life is a much complex and complicated part of any of us. Unlike elementary and high-school, college life gives you a taste of what’s out there, whats in the real world. It trains you how to live and what to expect in the real world. Well, that’s for me of course. So this article on my blog will talk about my college life and my life in Mindanao State University and how it changed me and how it helped me mature in my own different ways.
June 2013 was the time it all started. The opening day of my first ever college life experience. I must confess, I cried on my way here. It’s just me having a hard time letting go of my life there in Cotabato City. I think I’m not the only one who has that experience. I really had a bad experience for my first day here in MSU. I can recall that on my way here, there was a typhoon that day and its raining cats and dogs. So, half-way going to Marawi City, a part of Malabang was heavily flooded and cars can’t get through it. So we waited there for like 3 hours minimum. We arrived in Malabang like 5:00 PM and was able to get out around 8:00 PM. I was really scared that time. There was no electricity in the place. It was so dark. And to think that I am alone and its my first experience travelling going here in Marawi City. I could never forget that day! So we arrived here at MSU around 11:00 PM. God knows how I felt like a scared kitten in the dark. Well, that’s something you don’t experience everyday. Haha. I just think of it that way, to look at the positive side of the situation.
I really had a hard time adjusting to my new environment. Especially with my friends. Since I am a total alien here, friends count is ZERO! Like I have no friends at all. I have to start over. Like a kindergarten kid I was used to be. And there’s not much of an entertainment here since it is an Islamic City. No malls, no karaoke houses, no recreational activities and many more. I told myself that day that “I am so doomed!”.
I had a really diverse experience here. Since I am a Maguindanaon, in here they call of “maggi” like the noodles. Our native language is very much alike with the Maranao’s so I haven’t had a hard time knowing their language. And most of the students and teachers here also speaks bisaya and tagalog which I can understand also. I learned to love MSU by the time that I reached 2nd year. Form then, my heart and my sould learned to accept this new environment of mine. And fast forward, I now have a lot of friends. Especially my co-majors in CBAA. Sometimes we would go to Iligan City to have some fun. As in FUN! Haha.
I think I should end this article with a lesson that we should always learn to accept things. By the time that you’ll start accepting things, you open the doors to happiness and your environment would also follow. If you cannot change some things in your life then you should just learn to accept. After all, that’s all that you can do. There are things in life which you can never run to.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article! As always, I will update this blog of mine for the coming days. So watch out for it. If you are reading this, then you must be interested in my blog. Thanks for that. Itr keeps me going! J

ALL ABOUT ME

If you are reading this first part of my letter, then expect to know something about me. I don’t know the reason how we got here, but I can say that its worth your while. I’m sure that my life is as exciting as the celebrities’.
My name is Faharodin M. Sulaiman and I was born on January 5, 1997. And by the time I’m writing this letter, I am now 20 years old. And has experienced the cruelties and joy that this world could bring. I have 5 siblings so there are 7 of us in my family in total including my mother and father. I can say that we’re a pretty big family cause we can’t even fit into a normal SUV car. I live in Cotabato City which is part of Region XII and to specify further, a part of Maguindanao province. It’s a 4 hours drive when you want to get there from Marawi City. Which means I travel 4 hours whenever I go home to my homeland. Some will say that its just a small travel time compared to other, little did they know that there’s this part of the road in which they pure zig-zag roads and that you have to endure for 45 minutes which is very tiresome and makes you dizzy.
I studied elementary in Cotabato City Central Pilot School in the same school where my mother also went and graduated. It has been years since I last visited there, I can barely remember some of good memories there. But I assure you that there is. So fast forward to high-school, I studied at Notre Dame of Cotabato which is a catholic school and was once an all boys’ school. I really had a lot of good memories there. Indeed high-school is really the best part of your life. I  was part of our student council which is called as SCORe Officers or the Student Council Of Representatives. I was a part of it for two years. So I had experienced being a normal student for two years and also being an officer for two years. Which is really satisfying. What I love about it is that it prepared me for what’s coming, especially in college. We attended numerous trainings and seminars in all parts of the Philippines which is really exciting. I can say that all my efforts were paid off because by the time of our graduation, our moderator surprised me and my other two co-officers that the CHED will give us a special award. Which is the top 10 outstanding leaders of Cotabato City. And from this 10 awards, 3 were given to our school and I was one of the recipients. I can never really fully express how I felt that day. I was bursting with confidence and happiness! I feel so proud!
I really find my passion in public speaking especially when giving a talk on a seminar which I tried numerous times already. I’m also into movies and into books. I have two favourite books which are “Looking for Alaska” by John Green and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. I’ve read them for like 4 times now and it is just a piece of work for me. It is the best coming of age books in the market.

Well, that’s it for now, an update and some additional infos about me will be posted here on my blog so watch out for it, I might give some reviews on the books that I’ve read and some movies that I’ve watched. Watch out for it!
